Morgan Rogers, The Carrier Who Came The Long Way

An England attacker built by lower league football who now carries the ball past Premier League midfielders.

Rogers moves through midfield in a way that is difficult to defend against, because his stride covers ground faster than his body appears to be travelling. He receives between the lines, turns immediately, then drives at the defensive line until somebody is forced to make a decision. Attackers who commit defenders while running forward create chances that never show up in a passing chart.

His route into the top division makes him unusual among players at this level, since he learned the game away from the comfort of an elite academy.
