Teddy Sharman-Lowe, Made By The Loan System

An English goalkeeper who has spent his career being sent out to play rather than sitting and waiting.

Sharman-Lowe has done something most academy goalkeepers never manage, which is go away and actually play senior football under real pressure. Lower league football teaches a keeper things a training ground cannot, including how to organise defenders who have no interest in being organised. He has kept goal in matches where a mistake costs a club something meaningful, and that experience shows in how settled he looks.

The difficulty is the gap between that world and the one he would need to enter at Chelsea. Goalkeeping at the top level is a different examination, quieter for long stretches then unforgiving the moment it is not. His path almost certainly runs through more loans, because a keeper improves by playing rather than by waiting patiently for a chance.
