Physical enough to compete in midfield battles yet comfortable on the ball, Shein arrives as a landmark signing for Estonia.

Shein offers a rare central midfield blend, real physicality alongside technical composure that managers usually have to choose between. His route to England ran through Estonian, Dutch and Norwegian football, gathering senior caps along the way as someone who competes for the ball rather than waits for it. Portsmouth's manager pointed to exactly that blend after signing him, praising a midfielder comfortable enough to keep the ball moving under pressure.

The scale of his move marks him out as one of the biggest transfers his country has ever produced. That brings a weight of expectation few players his age are used to carrying.
