Jayden Meghoma, The Full Back Learning Fast

A rapid rise through two academies has left him remarkably composed for a defender still early in his career.

Meghoma defends as a left back with an emphasis on timing his challenges rather than relying purely on recovery speed, and he is comfortable enough in possession to be trusted with the ball in his own defensive third. His route through two different academy systems gave him a grounding in different footballing cultures before he ever made a senior appearance for either club.

He stepped straight into high pressure European fixtures on loan not long after arriving, adapting to the intensity of a new country and a new level of football far quicker than most defenders his age manage. Whether that composure holds up once the games matter even more, and once opponents have had time to study him properly, is the question that follows every promising young full back.
