Antoni Milambo, The Midfielder Ready Early

He was trusted with a leading role in European football before most midfielders his age get a regular league game.

Milambo carries the ball through midfield with real confidence, looking to break lines with a pass or a dribble rather than playing the safe option back to a centre back. He scores from midfield more often than a typical young player in his position, arriving late into the box or shooting early from outside it whenever a defence sits off him.

What makes him stand out is how early all of this arrived, becoming a key player in Europe's biggest competition while a lot of his peers were still trying to break into a first team squad at all. That kind of early exposure to pressure usually goes one of two ways for a young midfielder. Whether he keeps developing at the same rate in a new country and a much tougher league is the story worth following.
