Jannik Schuster

Schuster comes through an academy system built around keeping the ball on the ground and playing out from defence under pressure, an approach that has clearly shaped how comfortable he looks receiving a pass with a forward closing him down. He steps into midfield when his team is building an attack rather than simply passing sideways to a teammate, treating possession as something to use rather than something to survive.

He arrived in England with continental European football already on his record at a young age, having tested himself against strong opposition before most defenders his age get that opportunity. That kind of early exposure usually either accelerates a young player or exposes gaps in his defending that a less demanding level would have hidden for longer. Which of those two outcomes describes him is still genuinely unclear this early in his career.
