Josh Dasilva, The Midfielder Who Refused To Stop

Brentford's midfielder spent years rebuilding a knee that would have ended most careers before he ever got back onto a pitch.

Dasilva was a genuine box to box midfielder before injury interrupted him, covering ground from his own penalty area to the opponent's box and arriving in the right places to finish or create a chance. His passing under pressure and willingness to run beyond a forward marked him out early as different from most academy graduates who make it at Brentford.

The knee injury that kept him out for the best part of two years would have finished plenty of careers, involving more than one ligament and a long list of surgeries along the way. His return was an emotional moment for everyone connected with the club rather than a simple footballing footnote. Whether his body allows him to play with the same freedom he had before remains the honest, open question hanging over him.
