Can we retire the word ‘nearly’ now?

If you’re a Middlesbrough fan, you’ve probably heard enough about being close. Close to the top two. Close in the play-offs. Close to finally seeing Premier League football back on Teesside. At some point, close must get reaaaaally annoying.

Nobody needs Boro to look brilliant in August or have promotion wrapped up by Christmas. Fans just want to see whether all those near-misses have actually led somewhere.
