Riley McGree, The Midfielder Who Never Stops Moving

An Australian international who drifts across every midfield zone, covering for teammates as often as he creates for them.

McGree moves across the pitch rather than staying loyal to one zone, drifting wide to overload a full back before darting back inside to support a striker who has dropped short of the defence. That mobility makes him difficult to mark man for man. Whoever picks him up inherits a problem elsewhere on the pitch once he moves on again.

The tension with a player this versatile is that he can end up doing a bit of everything without quite defining a single game the way a more specialist attacker might. Coaches love his willingness to fill gaps, yet it occasionally means his best individual moments get lost inside a wider team performance.
