Harvey Barnes

Barnes gets at defenders in one on one situations more readily than most wide players, dropping his shoulder to shift the ball past a full back before the defender has settled into a proper defensive stance. Once he is past his man he does not always look to cross. He would rather cut inside and strike at goal from range while the defence is still recovering its shape behind him, catching goalkeepers off guard.

That directness makes him unpredictable, but it can also leave him isolated when a full back simply refuses to bite on the movement he offers. His end product has swung between spells of real productivity and much quieter periods over the years. That inconsistency is the argument supporters keep having about whether he is a genuine match winner or simply a streaky one.
