Tiernan Brooks, The Keeper Chairmen Rave About

A goalkeeper who worked through non league loans arrives with a rare and glowing verdict already attached to his name.

Brooks took a longer route into first team football than most goalkeepers his age, sent out on loan repeatedly to smaller clubs where mistakes matter just as much but carry less scrutiny. That apprenticeship, learning his position through senior non league football rather than staying inside academy walls, tends to produce a goalkeeper used to genuine pressure rather than sheltered development. The praise that followed him through those loans suggests his raw shot stopping ability was obvious even then.

What remains unproven is how that ability translates once he faces Championship strikers rather than the level he cut his teeth against on loan. Goalkeeping is unusually unforgiving about jumps in level, because a single error is remembered long after good performances are forgotten. Whether Brooks gets the chance to answer that question is the next chapter of his story.
