Karlan Grant, Back Where He Started

A striker who left Charlton's academy years ago returns with a proven scoring record built somewhere else.

Grant scores the sort of goals that come from being in the right place rather than manufacturing something spectacular, a poacher's instinct sharpened across several clubs since he first left home. He moves well without the ball, timing his runs to arrive just as the cross or cutback is delivered rather than a moment too early. That reliability in front of goal has followed him from club to club regardless of how the team around him has played.

Coming back to the club that first developed him adds a layer supporters will enjoy, a boyhood connection restored rather than an anonymous transfer. What matters more than the story is whether he can still produce that finishing touch now the level around him has changed again.
