Kayne Ramsay, The Right Back Still Rebuilding

A player who once started in the Premier League as a teenager is now working his way back up.

Ramsay's biggest asset is his athleticism, the ability to cover ground quickly and get forward from right back without leaving gaps behind him. He was trusted with a Premier League debut as a teenager, a sign of the raw physical tools a manager once saw in him. Since then he has rebuilt his career through loan spells and a drop down the divisions, learning the defensive side of the position the hard way.

The interesting question is what happens now he is playing regular first team football at a higher level again. Early praise focused on his ball carrying and potential rather than the finished product, which usually means the door stays open either way. Whether Charlton have found a right back who fulfils that early promise is worth watching.
