Jusef Erabi, The Poacher Preston Borrowed From Belgium

A traditional number nine on loan from Belgium, he leans on instinctive movement and clinical finishing over elaborate dribbling.

Erabi plays the position in its simplest and most effective form, reading where a defence is about to break down before a centre back notices the gap. His finishing looks calm rather than spectacular, the product of good positioning more than any single outstanding trick. His physical presence causes defenders genuine problems whenever the ball enters the penalty area.

That approach earned him a breakthrough season and player of the year recognition at Hammarby before Belgian football took an interest and signed him. The obvious question around any loan striker arriving from a different style of football is adaptation, since a quieter league does not prepare a forward for a physical second tier campaign in quite the same way. Early signs suggest he settles quickly, which only sharpens the question of whether Preston can make the move permanent.
