Callum Lang, The Forward Who Scores At Every Level

A club record fee brought him home after he proved a reliable goalscorer everywhere he was given a run.

Lang built his career the hard way, working through loan spells at Morecambe and Oldham where his goals came in bunches. Injury slowed him at Shrewsbury, and a move to Scotland with Motherwell tested him against unfamiliar opposition before he found his feet again. He returned to Wigan and kept scoring, then joined Portsmouth and hit a hat trick against Coventry City that announced him properly at Championship level.

Preston paid a club record fee for that consistent goal threat, betting on a striker who has rarely gone quiet for long anywhere he has played. The question now is whether that fee raises expectations beyond what hard running and physical strength alone can deliver every single week. How the crowd responds during any lean spell will say plenty about how the pressure of that price tag actually sits with him.
