Ugo Raghouber, The Screen Who Also Arrives

A young holding midfielder whose loan spells in France showed he can shield a defence and still find the net.

Raghouber does the unglamorous side of central midfield first, sitting in front of the back four and cutting off passes that would otherwise turn into chances. He learned that discipline on loan in French football, where a midfielder who cannot protect his own goal does not last long. What made him stand out on those loans was doing the defensive job well while still arriving late enough to score.

He became one of the most important players in a side chasing promotion, helping them push deep into a domestic cup at the same time. The step up now is whether that mix of protection and occasional goal threat survives a faster, more physical level. Burnley fans find out quickly whether he can shield a Championship back four just as well.
