Jordan Beyer, The Defender Who Fills Every Gap

A versatile defender whose comfort in more than one defensive role has made him a genuinely useful squad option.

Beyer came through a major German academy as a centre back before regularly being asked to cover right back instead, a switch that would expose most defenders but one he handled well enough to become first choice in either role. He formed part of a settled centre back partnership at one loan club before circumstances forced him wide, adjusting his positioning and tackling technique rather than simply hoping old habits transferred. That flexibility has followed him through every move since.

The risk for any defender this adaptable is losing the specific edge that comes from focusing entirely on one job. Beyer has occasionally lost his place after a difficult individual performance, a reminder that versatility alone does not guarantee a starting shirt at this level.
