Dane Scarlett, The Forward With Two Good Feet

Scarlett finishes as calmly off his weaker foot as his stronger one, which makes him difficult to catch out.

Scarlett offers a rounded profile for a young forward. He is equally capable of holding the ball up with his back to goal and laying it off as he is of spinning in behind a flat back line to chase a ball played over the top. His finishing does not rely on one preferred foot, which removes an obvious weakness that defenders would otherwise try to force him onto. He works hard without the ball too, pressing a defender into a rushed clearance rather than standing off and waiting for possession to return to him.

The tension for a forward this early in his development is simply game time, since the tools are clearly there but need repeated exposure at a higher level to sharpen properly. How quickly he gets that opportunity will decide how fast the promise turns into consistent output.
