Xavi Simons, The Midfielder Who Finishes His Own Moves

Simons covers so much ground that he ends up creating a chance and then arriving to take it himself.

Simons plays with the restless energy of someone who refuses to stand still. He drops deep to collect possession before driving forward himself instead of simply recycling it to a teammate. His shooting from outside the box is not a last resort, since he backs his own technique enough to strike early rather than working the ball closer in. That same directness shows up in his pressing, where he chases down defenders who think they have an extra second on the ball to work with.
