Marcos Senesi, The Defender Who Passes Forward First
Senesi treats his passing range as a genuine weapon rather than a formality. He regularly picks out a raking ball that skips past an entire midfield instead of finding the nearest full back. He backs that ambition with an aggressive reading of the game, stepping out of the defensive line to intercept a pass meant for a forward dropping short. Few defenders in the league attempt as many progressive passes as he does, and fewer still defend so far from their own goal while doing it.
