Todd Cantwell, The Captain Rebuilding His Career

A once highly rated Norwich talent who found a second wind in Scotland before choosing Blackburn to lead from midfield.

Cantwell was one of the most talked about young midfielders to come out of Norwich's academy, comfortable dictating play from a central position and arriving late into the box to add goals of his own. His move to Rangers reignited that promise, scoring memorable goals in some of Scottish football's biggest fixtures against fierce rivals. He arrived at Blackburn with genuine quality few Championship midfielders can match, ready to dictate matches from deep or advanced areas.

The captaincy tells its own story, because a club does not hand the armband to a player it does not trust to set the tone. The tension is whether his undoubted talent translates into consistent end product over a full season, rather than in flashes. His career so far has been defined as much by moments of brilliance as by patchy, inconsistent form.
