Yuri Ribeiro, The Wanderer Who Found Home

A well travelled left back whose route through Portugal, England and Poland eventually led him back to Blackburn.

Ribeiro's career has taken him from Benfica's academy through Nottingham Forest, Legia Warsaw and Braga before he settled in Lancashire on an extended contract. That variety of leagues has left him comfortable in more than one defensive shape. He is at his best when a team wants a left back who can tuck inside as a third centre back, because his positioning stays calm even when the structure around him changes mid match.

What separates him from a purely defensive full back is his willingness to get forward when the space appears down the flank. He has already shown in the Championship that he can contribute at the other end too. The question for Blackburn is whether that wide ranging experience translates into consistency, rather than occasional flashes of quality between quieter matches.
