Felix Goddard, The Keeper Built Through Loans

A well travelled young goalkeeper whose route to first team football has taken him from Singapore to Ireland.

Goddard's football education started far from Lancashire, growing up in Singapore before a mentor there guided his switch from outfield player to goalkeeper as a young boy. He joined Manchester City's academy as a teenager before Blackburn eventually brought him in on a scholarship deal. Rather than rushing him into first team football, the club has sent him out on a string of loans across non league English football and into Ireland.

Those loans have not been without setbacks, with a broken collarbone and a serious knee injury interrupting his progress at various points along the way. He has finally made his senior debut in Irish football, a real marker of progress after those setbacks. The question now is whether that hard won experience translates into a genuine path back into Blackburn's first team picture, rather than another season spent learning the game elsewhere.
