Augustus Kargbo, The Forward Italy Shaped

Scouted as a teenager in Sierra Leone, he built his game entirely inside Italian football before moving to England.

Kargbo was spotted in Freetown as a young teenager and taken to Italy, where he worked his way up through Serie D before featuring for Crotone and Cesena across several seasons in Serie B and Serie A. That grounding gives him a different profile from most forwards who come through English academies. He favours clever movement and link play over simply running in behind a defence, drifting into pockets between the lines.

He has also become an established international for Sierra Leone, including an appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations, which shows he can perform on a bigger stage than a Championship midweek fixture. That tournament experience arrived early in his career and clearly shaped him. The question for Blackburn is whether his technical style, built for a slower continental tempo, holds up against the physicality and pace of English football over a long campaign.
