Sander Berge, Long Legs Through Midfield

Fulham's Norwegian midfielder covers distance with his stride rather than his sprinting, which changes how opponents press him.

Berge is a genuinely tall central midfielder in an era when most of them are small and quick, which gives Fulham a different way to escape pressure. He takes the ball under a press, extends his first touch into space, and eats the ground in front of him before an opponent has organised the second challenge. In both penalty areas at set pieces he is a serious presence, which matters in matches that stay tight.
