Junior Tchamadeu, The Full Back Built On Recovery

A lower league academy education produced a right back whose recovery running has kept him a regular starter since arriving.

Tchamadeu gets forward down the right with real intent, then relies on genuine pace to get back into position before a counter attack can properly punish him for it. That recovery speed became his calling card during his rise through the lower divisions, where he was recognised as one of the best young players in his age group before turning professional in the Championship. Cameroon noticed the same attributes, calling him into their senior squad despite him being raised in England.

The tension for a young full back this reliant on recovery pace is what injuries do to a career built around it. He has already had spells disrupted by fitness problems, including one picked up on international duty that cost him valuable time.
