Koné is at his best attacking the gap between a full back and centre back, using explosive acceleration to get in behind before a defender has properly turned. He shields the ball well when defenders close in, and he strikes it cleanly and low when a chance arrives, favouring a compact finish over anything more elaborate. That directness earned him individual recognition in the division below and convinced a Championship club to pay a serious fee to bring him up a level.

The part of his game still developing is link play. He can look uncomfortable receiving with his back to goal, and he sometimes drifts out of matches entirely against opponents happy to sit in a deep, disciplined block. Whether he can adapt that instinctive, transition based game to tighter spaces will decide how much of his early promise actually converts at this level.
