Karamoko Dembélé

Dembélé plays a version of football built almost entirely around close control, dropping a shoulder in the smallest of spaces rather than trying to beat a full back with raw pace or strength. He was already drawing serious comparisons before most players his age had signed a professional contract anywhere. The traits that earned those comparisons, the low centre of gravity and the willingness to take defenders on repeatedly, have never really left his game as he has matured into a senior professional.

The tension with a dribbler this instinctive is consistency. A winger who lives by taking players on can just as easily run into a crowded midfield as unlock one. A loan spell in the Championship already proved he could produce end product regularly rather than only occasionally. The question now is whether he keeps delivering that as a permanent fixture rather than a temporary guest.
