Ajay Matthews, The Old Fashioned Number Nine

A traditional centre forward whose relentless pressing and appetite for goals mark him out as an old fashioned striker.

Matthews presses from the front with real intensity, forcing defenders into rushed clearances rather than allowing them time to build calmly from the back. He wants possession played to his feet so he can bring team-mates into play. That preference suits a Millwall side looking to work the ball through midfield rather than launch it long.
