Lukas Jensen, The Goalkeeper Who Came Back

A goalkeeper whose brief retirement to chase mountain biking looks, in hindsight, like the making of his calm temperament.

Jensen reads situations early and rarely looks rushed, even when defenders in front of him invite pressure he did not ask for. He plays with his feet as comfortably as his hands, receiving the ball without panicking, and moving it on to a teammate rather than hoofing it long out of pure habit. That composure did not arrive by accident, because he spent his late teenage years away from academy football entirely, competing in mountain biking instead.

He only returned to goalkeeping once he had proved to himself he genuinely wanted it, rather than continuing simply because it was expected. The question now is whether that calm survives a long run of games where goals start flying in around him. Supporters will want to see how he reacts the first time his positioning gets punished instead of rewarded.
