Lyndon Dykes, The Battering Ram Scotland Trusts

A physical, aerially dominant target man whose battering ram approach made him a trusted focal point for his country.

Dykes leads the line by winning physical duels first and looking for his own goal second, occupying centre backs so thoroughly that midfielders behind him find space they would not otherwise get. His aerial ability makes him a genuine weapon at both ends from set pieces.

He holds the ball up under pressure well enough that a team can use him to relieve it rather than always building patiently from the back. He earned his role for his country playing exactly this way, trusted precisely because he does the unglamorous work other strikers avoid.
