Danny Batth, The Veteran Who Has Led Before

An experienced, commanding centre back whose aerial dominance and past captaincy give this Millwall defence a senior voice.

Batth wins the vast majority of his aerial duels through good timing rather than simply outjumping opponents. He meets crosses at the highest point before an attacker can adjust. That same aerial ability makes him a consistent threat at the opposite end during set pieces, adding goals to a defender's game that many centre backs never manage.

His experience captaining sides through pressurised promotion campaigns gives him a calmness that rubs off on younger team-mates during tense moments in a match. The question at this stage of his career is how much football his body still has in it after so many demanding seasons in England's second tier. Fans will want to see whether his experience covers for any decline in pace, because defenders who work on positioning tend to age far better than those relying on raw speed.
