Eddie Nketiah, The Striker Who Times His Run

Nketiah's game is built on arriving in the six yard box before everyone else, not on creating chances himself.

Nketiah's finishing works because of where he stands rather than any single trick, drifting off the last defender until the pass in behind becomes the easiest ball in the game to play. He shoots early and from tight angles, trusting his placement to beat a goalkeeper who has not had time to set himself. He can also drop wide when Palace need different movement, though the box is where he does his clearest damage.

The tension for a striker like Nketiah is that his game depends heavily on service, and a team that cannot get the ball into that space leaves him starved of chances.
