Wright spent a full decade in Manchester City's academy before finally breaking into their first team squad, and the manner of his emergence was striking. He replaced Erling Haaland in the closing stages of a Champions League knockout match against Copenhagen. That is simply not a stage a club risks on a player who cannot handle real pressure.
Norwich moved decisively to sign him on loan before making the transfer permanent for a fee that reflected real confidence in what he could still become. The challenge now is adjusting from occasional cameos inside a dominant squad to regular, high level performances inside a Championship midfield that offers him far less protection. How he handles being relied upon week after week rather than coming off the bench will define his time at Norwich.
