Errol Mundle-Smith, The Winger Grassroots Built

He played non league football in Croydon before Norwich's academy spotted him, and he has won an England youth cap.

Mundle-Smith took an unusual route into professional football, starting out in South London before playing for Croydon in a regional non league youth league, well outside the traditional elite academy pathway most of his Norwich teammates followed. Norwich's academy signed him from there initially as a striker. He was later moved out to the wing, where his pace has become his most obvious weapon.

He signed his first professional contract soon after and made his senior debut as a substitute against Hull City. That rise was recognised at international level when he earned his first England youth cap in a high scoring draw against Italy, a notable step for a player who entered elite academy football relatively late by modern standards. Watching how he develops his final touch will decide how far his grassroots story takes him.
