Fisher never wanted to be a goalkeeper who simply launches the ball long and hopes for the best. He picks a pass under pressure the way a deep lying midfielder would, using his feet to start attacks rather than just end them, and backs that instinct with the basic goalkeeping work too, getting his body behind shots and claiming crosses convincingly.
