Erling Haaland, The Forward Who Never Wastes a Chance
Haaland's game is built on economy rather than flair, and that is deliberate rather than a limitation. He reads the trajectory of a cross or cutback earlier than the defenders marking him, arrives at the near post or six yard box a stride ahead of them, and finishes with whichever foot happens to be nearest the ball. Very few strikers commit so little effort to anything not directly about scoring.
The debate around him is whether that single mindedness makes City's attack too predictable when space in behind is not available. He offers little in build up play compared to a forward who drops deep and links midfield to attack, so the team must create the chance for him rather than through him.
