Sondre Langås, The Captain Who Plays Through Pain

He delayed surgery on his own injury to help Derby survive a relegation battle, which tells you how he is wired.

Langås runs the Derby defence the way a captain is supposed to, organising the shape from the back and demanding the same standards from teammates that he holds himself to. He is not defined by flashy interceptions, he is defined by consistently being in the correct position before danger arrives, a harder skill to notice but a much harder one to teach. Norway trusted him at international level for the same reason a Championship dressing room trusts him as captain.

What separates him from most defenders in this division is a willingness to sacrifice his own fitness for the team. He delayed knee surgery so he could keep playing through a relegation fight, instead of protecting his future first. That decision earns respect instantly, though it also raises a fair question about how much punishment his body can keep absorbing before it catches up with him.
