Nolan Galves

Galves built his reputation at Rodez as an attacking right back rather than a purely defensive one, regularly getting forward to combine with a winger and setting up a striking number of goals for a player in his position. That end product from wide areas is what convinced West Brom to take a chance on him. He arrived straight from French football's second tier, a jump few players make successfully in one move.

He offers a genuine dual threat, defensively responsible enough to be trusted but clearly happiest when the game is being played in the opposition half. The tension is obvious, because Ligue 2 and the Championship are very different examinations of a full back's recovery pace. Attacking right backs sometimes get exposed once English wingers start running directly at them instead.
