Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, The Legs Everton Needed

A midfielder whose value is measured in ground covered rather than anything that shows up in highlights.

Dewsbury-Hall plays as a roving attacking midfielder, drifting to whichever side the ball happens to be on and then sprinting past it into the penalty area. Very few midfielders in the division run as far or as often, and fewer still arrive in the box with enough left in the legs to make a decent decision. He takes set pieces too, delivering with a left foot that hangs the ball up right in front of the goalkeeper.

The question is what happens when those legs are asked to repeat it across a long run of matches, because his game is built on sprinting rather than on standing in the right place. He is not the player who will control a match when Everton need to slow it down. What he does instead is drag the whole team up the pitch by force.
