Bafodé Diakité

A centre back whose recovery pace lets him defend high up the pitch without the constant fear of being caught out in behind, closing down attackers with an aggression that borders on reckless until you notice how rarely it actually fails. France's youth set-up trusted him well before Bournemouth paid a club-record fee to sign him.

Bafodé Diakité, The Defender Built For Pace

A centre back whose recovery speed allows him to defend aggressively high up the pitch without the usual risk attached.

Diakité steps up to engage attackers earlier than most centre backs would dare, trusting his own recovery speed to bail him out if the first challenge does not land cleanly. That aggression suits a team that wants to defend with a high line, because it squeezes the pitch and denies a forward the room to turn and run in behind. Lille built a genuinely aggressive defensive structure with him at the heart of it, which is exactly why bigger clubs kept circling.

The risk in defending this way is obvious, since one miscalculated step upfield against a genuinely quick forward can turn a routine defensive header into a one on one with the goalkeeper. He has generally got the balance right so far. Whether the Premier League, played at a faster tempo than Ligue 1, exposes that gamble more often is the question worth watching this season.

Clean sheets in the Premier League and Championship

Five Premier League keepers have three clean sheets from five games, but Konstantinos Tzolakis has made the most saves of the group. In the Championship, George Wickens has matched Lawrence Vigouroux's four clean sheets while facing far more shots.

Match Bingo Game Modes Explained

There are three game types on Match Bingo and they behave less alike than they sound. Live Games follow a real fixture as it's played. Bingoals swaps the fifteen events for fifteen teams and needs every one of them to score. Quick Games run every few minutes on football from last season, so there's nothing to wait for.

Does a New Signing Change Anything on Your Match Bingo Card?

Deadline day comes and goes and your card stays exactly as it was. Match Bingo cards are built from things that happen in a match, goals and corners and fouls, rather than from the players who make them happen. No name on a teamsheet reaches a single square. Here's what a signing does change, and what it doesn't.

Is Match Bingo Safe? Licensing, Fair Play and Player Protection

Two things usually sit behind that question: whether the company is real and regulated, and whether the game itself can be got at by somebody sharper than you. Match Bingo is operated by RTSB Limited under Gambling Commission account 51467, which takes about a minute to check. The second answer is duller: there's nothing to press.

What Is Football Bingo?

A card holds fifteen things that can happen in a football match, and each square marks itself the moment its event happens in the fixture you've chosen. You buy before kick-off, then you go and watch the game. Complete a horizontal row of five before anybody else and you take the fixed prize for that tier.

Bafodé Diakité: The Front-Foot Enforcer

Bournemouth’s physical defender, built for duels and recovery pace in transition.

Diakité defends like he enjoys the battle. He steps in early, competes for everything in the air and uses his athleticism to close space quickly, making it harder for strikers to settle. In a system that wants to press high and play with intensity, having a centre-back who can defend forwards and still recover is crucial, and Diakité gives Bournemouth that security.

He also brings confidence on the ball. When Bournemouth build from deep he’s comfortable carrying into midfield to change the angle, then playing the simple pass that keeps the rhythm alive. He isn’t trying to be a playmaker, but he adds calm progression, and that balance of aggression and composure makes him a defender who fits modern football.
