Charlie Warren, From Sunday League To Bolton

This forward played Sunday league football before an unlikely rise took him all the way into a professional Bolton shirt.

Warren's route into the professional game is about as unconventional as it gets, playing Sunday league football before working his way up through non league clubs and eventually earning a move to Bolton. Making his first team debut as a substitute so soon after arriving showed the club already trusted him. It is a rise that stands out even in a sport full of unlikely stories, since so few players make that jump from weekend football into the professional game at all.

He is currently out gaining experience away from Bolton, playing regular non league football on loan rather than being thrown straight into first team action. That is a sensible step for a forward whose football education has been so different from a typical academy graduate.
