John Victor

Victor built his name in Brazilian football as a penalty specialist, someone who studies a taker's run up rather than diving early and hoping his reflexes save the day. That habit of reading the moment rather than reacting to it carried him through a continental cup final. Occasions like that tend to expose any goalkeeper who is not genuinely comfortable under pressure.

The step up to English football asks a different question of him, because Premier League crosses and set pieces are contested with more physicality than most of what he faced before. Forest fans will want to see whether the calm handling that defined him in Brazil survives contact with forwards built purely to bully a goalkeeper. His shot stopping alone will not settle that argument quickly. Forest fans are still forming their verdict, aware that a handful of matches rarely tells the full story.
