Ryan Longman, The Winger Who Scores Late
Longman came through Brighton's academy but needed loan spells at AFC Wimbledon and Hull City before truly establishing himself. He eventually earned a permanent move to Hull after impressing enough during his time there. His finishing has a habit of arriving at the right moment, including an equaliser against Everton in the FA Cup that forced the game into extra time and briefly threatened a genuine upset.
A loan at Millwall followed before Wrexham brought him in, another club willing to bet that a winger who has spent his career searching for a settled home can finally find one further up the leagues. The question that follows any player with this pattern of loans is whether he simply needed the right system to unlock him. He might instead keep drifting until he finds one that fully trusts him week to week.
