Roerslev plays right back the way a winger might, always looking to reach the byline and put the ball into the box rather than checking back inside. His crossing is the clearest strength in his game, delivered with real conviction from areas where most full backs would settle for a safer pass. He also relishes the individual battle, backing himself against a winger in a straight footrace or a shoulder to shoulder contest.

The trade off is obvious once the move breaks down, because a full back committed that far forward leaves space in behind for the opposition to exploit. Southampton need him to judge those moments correctly, choosing when to gamble on the overlap and when to stay disciplined. His recovery pace and duelling record suggest he usually gets the balance right, though a serious injury lay off makes his overall fitness a genuine question this season.
