Ben House, The Poacher Lincoln Fans Trust

Team mates voted him their own player of the year after he finished a year as the club's leading goalscorer.

House scores the way natural poachers always have, reading where a rebound or a cross will fall a split second before defenders do and getting there first rather than trying to beat them. That instinct made him the club's top scorer one year and the players' own choice as player of the year in the same year, proof team mates and results agreed. He arrived through a series of loan spells at smaller clubs before finding a settled home in Lincoln's forward line.

The question that follows every natural poacher is whether that instinct scales up against sharper, better organised defences who make fewer mistakes to exploit. Goals built on being in the right place rely partly on the opposition being slightly wrong. House has already answered plenty of doubters once, and Lincoln fans are backing him to do it again at a tougher level.
