Conor McGrandles, The Midfielder Who Kept Fighting Back

Two serious injuries never stopped him covering every blade of grass in midfield, and he chose to return once already.

McGrandles brings an engine to midfield tested more than most players ever face, having recovered from a broken leg and a serious facial fracture without either injury changing how he plays. He covers ground box to box rather than sitting in one zone, closing down opponents relentlessly and rarely shirking a physical duel after everything his body has been through. That willingness to put himself in harm's way again says as much about his character as any pass he plays.

He left Lincoln once for another club before choosing to sign back permanently, a decision that tells its own story about where he belongs. The debate among fans is whether that engine and effort are enough alone, or whether the side needs more genuine craft alongside his relentless running. Either way, few midfielders at the club have earned their place back through sheer persistence quite like he has.
