Haji Wright, The Forward Who Runs In Behind

He wants the ball played in behind the last defender far more than he wants it to his feet.

Wright would rather run in behind a defensive line than drop deep to link play, using his physical strength to hold off a centre back once he gets in front of him. His finishing is confident and genuinely two footed, which makes him unpredictable for defenders trying to show him onto his weaker side. Coventry built their attack around that directness once he became their first choice striker.

The obvious gap in his game is a first touch that can let him down under the tightest pressure, along with a pressing effort that has never matched his output going forward. Coventry's manager has generally accepted that trade off given how often Wright finds good positions to score. Watch whether quicker centre backs can close that touch down before he gets his shot away.
