Ali Al Hamadi, A Big Forward Who Carries

Al Hamadi uses his size to win first contact, then surprises defenders by driving at them rather than holding it.

Al Hamadi is taller than most forwards, yet his instinct is to collect the ball short and run directly at whoever is marking him rather than competing in the air. He reads when to check into midfield for the ball and when to hold his position on the last defender's shoulder instead, switching between the two roles. His decision making inside the penalty area stands out, mixing clinical finishing with selfless cut backs for a better positioned teammate.

That willingness to drop deep and carry the ball raises a question about whether Ipswich are getting full value from his physical advantages in the box. A forward his size could dominate crosses and set pieces if he stayed higher up the pitch. Whether the team wants him linking play from deep or waiting on the shoulder of the last defender will shape how his role develops.
