Ermin Mahmic

Ermin Mahmic is named in Sergej Barbarez's confirmed 26-man Bosnia and Herzegovina squad for the 2026 World Cup, where he lines up as an attacking midfielder. The 21-year-old plays his club football for Slovan Liberec in the Czech First League, where he scored seven goals this season. He came through Austrian youth football before committing to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and has begun his senior international career with the side.

A young midfielder with an eye for goal, he has scored regularly from the middle of the park this season. Bosnia and Herzegovina reached the finals through the UEFA play-offs, qualifying via second-round Path A on 31 March 2026, and have been drawn in Group B alongside Canada, Qatar and Switzerland, opening against Canada on 12 June.

An attacking midfielder who can also play in central or right midfield, Mahmic plays high up the pitch and looks to get into shooting positions. He ranked second in the Czech First League for shots per 90 this season, never far from a strike at goal, and turns that volume into goals from midfield. He stands 1.82 m, is right-footed and has logged 1,547 club minutes this season, going into the group stage in Sergej Barbarez's squad at 21.
